  • On the generation side, in 2023 Georgia utility-scale solar contributed around 6.6% of the state’s electricity production, while small-scale (residential) solar added another 568 GWh, totaling approximately 8,780 GWh of solar-generated energy in 2024.
  • This strong growth has been fueled by major investments, including expansions by leading companies like Qcells and Suniva. For example, Qcells’ massive Dalton facility, initially producing 1.7 GW, expanded by an additional 2 GW in late 2023, creating hundreds of new jobs.
  • On the broader clean energy front, Georgia employed around 66,000 people in clean energy roles in 2022, with approximately 10,500 of those in renewable electricity generation, predominantly solar. This placed Georgia #5 among Southeastern states in clean energy employment.
